What are the hours of San Jose civil court?

As of August 17, 2020, the business hours at the San Jose civil DTS is:

Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Fridays 8:30 AM - 12:00 noon

Can I file paperwork at both San Jose civil courthouses?

No. Only the DTS has a clerks' office that accepts paperwork. Paperwork is not accepted at the Old Courthouse. Here's where you can file paperwork:

You can also drop documents in the court drop box at 191 North First Street. But, anything deposited in the drop box is left at your own risk. The court assumes no responsibility for statutory deadlines.

Where is the entrance at the San Jose civil court?

The entrance to both the DTS and the Old Courthouse are on North First Street.

Do I have to go through a metal detector at the San Jose civil court?

Yes. Any objectionable items may be confiscated by the Sheriff or held for you to pickup when you exit the courthouse. If an item is going to be returned to you, the Sheriff will give you a piece of paper with information on it. When exiting the court, you will have to return that piece of paper to the Sheriff in order to get your stuff back.

Where to park at San Jose civil court?

Parking around the San Jose civil courthouses (DTS) and the Old Courthouse is limited. Get there early to find a spot in the parking lot, the parking garage, or on the street. Both courthouses are on the same street, facing St. James Park.

Is parking free at the San Jose civil court?

The 161 North First Street and the 191 North First Street courthouses only reimburse the parking fees of jurors.

So, unless you're a juror, you have to pay for your own parking.

The San Jose civil courthouses will not reimburse you for what you pay to park.
