The public entrance to the Oakland civil courthouse at 1225 Fallon is the public entrance to the courthouse is near 12th Street and Oak Street.

Do I have to go through a metal detector at the Oakland civil court?

Yes. Any objectionable items may be confiscated by court personnel or held for you to pickup when you exit the courthouse. It's best to leave all questionable and metal items behind before you drive to the courthouse.

Where to park at Oakland civil court?

Parking near the Oakland civil court is expensive and limited. There's only two places to park for free and they fill up fast. Get there early to find a spot in the numerous paid parking lots or on the street at the parking meters.

Is parking free at the Oakland civil court?

The Oakland civil court only reimburses the parking fees of jurors. So, unless you're a juror, you have to pay for your own parking. The Oakland civil court will not reimburse you for what you pay to park.

But, the good news is there is nearby free parking but it's very limited:

Yes, there are meters but the spaces fill up quickly. They're located around the courthouse. But, the spaces immediately surrounding the courthouse are not for the public. Hours: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, two hour limit. Cost: as of February 27, 2021, they charge $2.00 an hour.
