The San Jose Police Department ("SJPD") reports that one unidentified man passed away and a second unidentified man got arrested after an early Saturday morning high speed hit and run crash on Monterey Road and Live Oak Avenue in San Jose, California.

(Monterey Road and Live Oak Avenue is actually on the border of San Jose and Morgan Hill.)

The SJPD report the man who hit and ran was under the influence and speeding southbound Monterey Road, driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, when he crashed with a 1998 Chevrolet truck driven by another man. Then, Hyundai's driver escaped his car and ran away on foot.

Tragically, the driver of the 1998 Chevrolet truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police caught and arrested the Hyundai driver at a home near the 1800 block of Senter Road in San Jose.

Although we're not even at the end of March, the SJPD reports this is San Jose's eighth 2021 fatal collision.
