Fatal Highway 24 Collision Under CHP Investigation

California Highway Patrol Officers and Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Firefighters responded to a fatal crash on Monday, October 26, 2020, on the westbound Highway 24 lanes east of Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette, California, per Bay Area News Group's San Jose Mercury News.
CHP officers are investigating this accident which resulted in at least one death, and closed multiple Highway 24 lanes early this evening, authorities have reported.
Per a CHP social media statement, the CHP responded at 4:38 PM today to reports of a solo collision. When officers arrived, they learned that the driver of a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck had suddenly veered across all lanes of westbound traffic, ultimately striking a metal pole.
This crash crushed the GMC's truck cab, killing the driver. There are also reports of at least one other person in another car who got taken to the hospital, complaining of pain.
