Police say that on Tuesday, January 18, 2021, San Jose woman Kristalinna Pacheco, 36, hit and killed bicyclist Haolan Chen, a 7-year-old little boy who was a student at Merryhill Elementary.

The crash took place on North Park Victoria Drive and Kennedy Drive. Pacheco hit bicyclist Haolan Chen in the crosswalk and kept on driving.

Haolan, his dad and sister were all riding their bicycles when this horrific crash occurred. Haolan's father, Mr. Andrew Chen, was immediately behind him, his sister was immediately in front of him.

The San Jose Police Department explains that on January 2, 2021, a 2015 White Lexus R35 was stolen on Oakland Road. On January 18, 2021, that Lexus was used in an armed robbery at Shoe Palace, on the corner of Bascom Avenue and San Carlos Street. That was the same day this tragic hit and run accident occurred.

On January 18, 2021, the Milpitas Police noticed the stolen Lexus on East Calaveras Boulevard near North Park Victoria Drive. They explain that the Lexus drove away at a high rate of speed, but officers never attempted to stop it.

After the crash, a Milpitas police officer tried to render first aid to Haolan, but sadly, little Haolan passed away at a local hospital due to injuries he suffered in this needless crash.

Pacheco had a male in the car with her. After the crash, Pacheco got out of the Lexus and tried to run away at North Park Victoria Drive and Nicklaus Avenue. Then, her passenger slid into the drivers seat and proceeded to flee the scene. Milpitas Police gave chase to the male passenger who was not immediately apprehended. Later, Newark Police found the abandoned Lexus.

On January 19, 2021, Milpitas police arrested Kristalinna Pacheco. She was booked at the Santa Clara County jail for three charges: homicide, fleeing the scene of an accident and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Fortunately, this crash was captured by a security camera so the wrongdoer can be held accountable.
